Once upon a time beer boots we a quirky and little known souvenir brought back from Germany by American tourists and servicemen. Then came BeerFest. Upon the movie’s release, beer boots or Das Boot in particular, rocketed in the lexicon of every male college student in the country. Since then, beer boots are must have item for frat parties and beer Olympics.

What is Das Boot? Is it a German movie about a submarine during WWII or is a beer glass? The answer is yes, on both counts. The term Das Boot now famous from two movies – Das Boot but Wolfgang Petersen in 1981 and BeerFest by Broken Lizard in 2006. BeerFest used the term Das Boot to portray a large boot shaped beer glass used in this beer-themed comedy set in Germany and USA.
